POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides professional leadership and management of all laboratory services throughout the Health System. Ensures comprehensive, competent and coordinated client centered service for both internal and external clients. Develops and implements business and strategic plans ensuring optimal delivery of laboratory services, integration of Pathologists, integration with other clinical and patient care services departments, as well as successful financial performance. Manages delivery of service assuring compliance with governmental regulations and accrediting agency standards. Oversees continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental philosophy and objectives, as well as Health System initiatives.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
A baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university and successful completion on a NAACLS accredited Medical Laboratory Science program. Masters Degree required.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
MT (ASCP) or MLS (ASCP) certification required. Certification must be maintained by submitting appropriate continuing education documentation to certifying agency.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
At least five years of hospital management or supervisory experience in a Clinical Laboratory required. Demonstrated leadership and management skills. Excellent communication, organization and critical-decision making skills required. Strong interpersonal and public speaking/presentation skills. Ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels of staff within the organization and community. Successful completion of annual job specific competencies and skill verification tools required.
