The registered nurse first assistant is a Registered nurse with technical skills to assist the surgeon with specific intraoperative procedures.Working under the direction of a physician, the RNFA may provide direct care to patients using the nursing process preoperatively, intraoperatively and postoperatively. Other nursing duties as assigned.Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental and divisional nursing philosophy and objectives, as well as, Health System initiatives.Works with other healthcare team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.Complies with regulatory agency guidelines.
Graduate from an approved school of nursing program. BSN preferred.Graduate of a recognized RNFA program.Three plus years of surgery experience required.
Current Illinois RN license. Certified in Perioperative Nursing (CNOR). BLS and ACLS, certification required.CRNFA or must obtain within 5 years of hire.
