Swanton Elementary School has an opening for a passionate, dynamic, and creative music educator who sees music as a vital part of a child's education and school's mission to join our team in the 2024-2025 school year. The successful candidate will be responsible for general music education classes for children in grades K-6, as well as our incredible chorus program, currently featuring fifth and sixth graders. All candidates must have knowledge and experience with a curriculum based on the standards of creating, performing and responding, as well as current best practices that include familiarity with common core standards or music standards, competency in technology integration when appropriate for music, excellent communication skills, ability to differentiate instruction/inclusion, and trauma informed classrooms. Preference will be given (but not a requirement) to educators who have experience with Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and/or Responsive Classroom. Collaboration with the school's Unified and Team, and the District's Music Education Team, are expected.All applicants will be expected to have excellent organizational skills, demonstrated planning proficiency, enhanced written and oral communication, creativity, collaboration skills, the ability to be a reflective practitioner, and an enthusiastic belief in the ability of ALL students being able learn.
