    We are seeking a Commercial Solar Developer to join GreenSpark Solar! The Commercial Solar Developer will perform management tasks related to the development of commercial scale solar projects. This individual will work with a multidisciplinary team including other members of the Origination team, legal and finance, engineering/design, and operations to manage projects from conception, through the development process, and leading to formal notice to proceed agreements. The Commercial Solar Developer will be primarily responsible for solar project development tasks and collaboration with project stakeholders including, but not limited to development partners, land owners, and jurisdictional authorities to secure project approvals. Also, the Commercial Solar Developer will engage with the Commercial Operations team to transition project responsibilities and accountability as commitments and project assets are secured. Occasional travel is required, and some evening work is required.

    The Commercial Solar Developer day to day responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Development tasks including technical review, customer interaction, design support, permitting, contract negotiations, budget development, and tracking, grant administration

    • Representing and presenting on behalf of GreenSpark at public hearings and community meetings related to project development

    • Facilitating positive working relationships with project stakeholders, partners and jurisdictional authorities 

    • Developing and executing project plans, coordinating with multiple stakeholders, and responsiveness to multiple projects simultaneously

    • Support of internal finance, engineering, and construction teams to facilitate successful project financing and construction.

    These are our education & qualification requirements:

    • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

    • Delight in playing a meaningful role in a growth-phase business (with all of its joys, adventures, and challenges).

    • A firm commitment to GreenSpark’s purpose and desire to use solar to make a positive impact in the Rochester community.

    • Two or more years of experience in the energy, real estate, construction or engineering industry, with a successful track record in project development.

    • Organizational and process-oriented skills to clearly maintain project budgets, work, and schedule progress, project documentation, correspondence, and related files.

    • Strong written and verbal communication and computer skills, including Microsoft Word & Excel, Google Suite, and CRM platforms.

    • Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects and tasks, and solve problems quickly and effectively.

    • Working familiarity with team-based work management platforms (Asana, Slack, etc.)

    • Salary Range: $65,000-80,000
