Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

Position Summary:

Perform mechanical engineering projects to develop new or improved designs, new products or improved manufacturability.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Develop new product offerings in collaboration with Mechanical Engineering Working Lead, which would be functionally attractive and compatible to the product line.
  2. Provide basic designs, develop specifications, and provide personal consultations to employees for the fabrication of samples or prototypes.
  3. Analyze, evaluate, recommend, design and redesign machine systems, sub-assemblies, and related equipment by applying the theory and principles of mechanical engineering.
  4. Draft and test prototype fabrications and experimental procedures to assure optimum design, standardization, quality and manufacturing feasibility for existing and new products.
  5. Analyze machine and equipment specifications and performance requirements to conceive practical designs which can be produced by existing manufacturing facilities and methods.
  6. Direct other designers in the designing or drafting of detailed multi-view drawings of machine and sub-assemblies including specifications and may personally perform such duties. Establish parts list for each assembly drawing.
  7. Modify machine or equipment design to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.
  8. Provide technical assistance, either verbal or hands-on, to manufacturing personnel to solve start-up problems or production problems. May be required to travel to customer's facilities.
  9. Observe assembly and sub-assembly operations and keeps aware of possible ways to improve the design for end use purpose or to improve the ease of manufacturing, keeping efficiency, safety and cost in mind.
  1. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
  • Minimum of three (3) years design experience in machine tool circuitry or machine control systems or completion of an approved Co-op program preferred.
  • Knowledge of design safety requirements
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Candidate should be able to work confidently under pressure without direct supervision.
  • Good communication skills- both written and verbal.

Work Environment:

Office / Manufacturing environment. Employee may be occasionally exposed to moving equipment, mechanical parts in motion, risk of shock and other hazards associated with a manufacturing environment such as overhead cranes, welding, machining, painting etc.

Travel / Customer Support. Employee might be expected to perform customer support and guidance at their locations. Aside from technical capability, the employee must have interpersonal skills commensurate with expectations for a field service technician who also promotes product sales and further services.

This is an office-based position that requires walking, sitting, standing, bending, driving, reading, seeing, hearing, speaking, concentrating, and communicating.
