DTA, a SurfacePrep Company and leading distributor of conventional rough and precision and superabrasive grinding/cutoff wheels as well as Metallurgical supplier, is searching for a Western Territory Sales person/Business Representative.

For over 40 years, Diamond Tool & Abrasives has delivered industry leading technology, exceptional quality products and service to the metal finishing, Foundry and Metallurgical industries.

The Western Territory Sales person will inherit a mature group of accounts as well as prospect and develop new accounts in the western United States as assigned. They will have a strong focus on achieving budgeted growth goals in addition to daily account management including the handling of engineering products, quotations, and complaint resolution. The territory consists of several large customers comprised of aerospace, cutting tool, bearing, foundry, and general manufacturing accounts as well as Metallurgical Labs throughout the territory. Collaboration with distribution varies from large integrators to traditional local and national organizations.

The ideal candidate is someone with previous experience in grinding wheel sales, a curiosity about the industry, high energy and a professional persistence and tenacity. This person will bring new ideas, think outside the box, have a deep passion for the sales role, and create ways to attain new accounts. Living in or around the Los Angeles area is preferred.

The Ideal Candidate will:

  • Have great communication skills.
  • Provide prompt and accurate responses to technical application-related questions.
  • Work with manufacturing engineers and the DTA sales team to further product knowledge.
  • Field and resolve quality-related issues. Monitor and track progress with the appropriate vendors and with the customer.
  • Process price quotes in a timely manner with input from Sales Management and/or Marketing; follow through to order placement.
  • Review sales history to help determine prioritized activities and product recommendations.
  • Seek areas to up sell; utilize a follow-up process for quotes and samples with customers.
  • Effectively and organically grow sales withing the assigned territory.
  • Process customer orders, complaints, and credits/debits in an efficient, accurate and timely manner.
  • Troubleshoot customer order issues for positive resolution.
  • Provide timely, proactive updates on customer issues to commercial/operations teams and sales/business management.
  • Work with other divisions to provide sales leads thus expanding general company sales.
  • Provide territory sales reports upon request.

Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years abrasives or industrial sales experience
  • B.S. in engineering or technical discipline. Prior experience in sales will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Experience with CRM software.
  • Hands-on experience with multiple sales techniques (including cold calls)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Be organized, capable of managing multiple tasks and a diverse set of objectives.
  • Ability to achieve goals with minimal supervision and guidanceā€¦
  • An exceptional level of motivation, desire, competitiveness, customer-driven focus, time management and project management skills
  • A strong work ethic and commitment that will allow you to exceed your financial and professional goals.
  • Technical knowledge / Ability to read and understand CAD/PDF drawings.
  • Good math skills
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
