SureWerx is Hiring a Buyer Near Elgin, IL

SureWerx is a national supplier of tool, equipment, and safety product lines for the Canadian and US markets. Our range of products include abrasives, air tools, hand tools, material handling, lifting equipment and safety apparel and products. Our USA headquarters is in Elgin, Illinois, the Canadian location is headquartered in Vancouver, Canada with six branch offices located in the major cities across Canada.
We are seeking a Buyer to support our Supply Chain team on a full-time regular basis. This role is open to candidates who can work on a hybrid schedule and within reasonable commuting distances from our branches in Elgin, IL; Vancouver, BC; Guelph, ON; or Portland, OR.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Sourcing:
  • Research, identify, develop & with Product Management qualify suppliers, technologies and finished goods. Monitor market fundamentals for opportunities to leverage changing conditions.
  • Communicate, coordinate, implement and enforce category strategies
  • Competitively bid assigned categories using RFP/RFQ process.
  • Negotiate and contract with suppliers achieving optimal commercial terms 
Supplier Relationship Management:
  • Scorecard development with relevant KPIs, quarterly business reviews, benchmarking, and market condition updates.
  • Develop plans to achieve year over year cost reductions 
  • Lead process/cost improvement initiatives 
  • Escalation point to resolve issues related to material quality, price, service and delivery 
  • Responsible for overseeing supplier transitions 
Category Management:
  • Develop Annual category plan – demand analysis/forecast, sku segmentation and optimal buying/inventory policies, industry/market analysis, supply landscape, supplier segmentation and contingency planning.
  • Continuous improvement –actively identify improvement opportunities.
Supply Risk Management:
  • Utilize category strategy, risk management tools while actively monitoring market and historical information to support buying decisions.
  • Leverage supplier intelligence, monitor market fundamentals & technical analysis to adjust or renew pricing and present/future availability.
  • Continually lead efforts to find and qualify secondary sources of supply.
Orders, Forecasts and Deliveries: 
  • Develops forecast and sends to supplier annually, quarterly and/or monthly.
  • Monitors production schedules, forecasts, inventories, and related information and adjusts as needed.
  • Regularly updates release orders for price, delivery appointments, have ready dates, quantities, etc. 
  • Regularly reviews the availability of finished goods and determines the need to adjust (if possible) based on demand.
  • Monitors and follows up on overdue finished goods to ensure uninterrupted supply.
  • Proactively investigates, notifies, and assists in resolving problems resulting from shortages.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, operations, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Advanced MS Office Suite skills, with a focus on Excel.
  • Strong numerical aptitude.
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills.
  • Solid problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to efficiently handle shifting priorities and manage multiple tasks.
  • A detail-oriented and logical individual with the ability to make objective business decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong listening ability.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Customer service-oriented with a sense of priority and purpose.
