POSITION SUMMARY :

Drives truck/van with capacity under 1 ton to transport materials and parts to and from specified destinations throughout the Greater Los Angeles area, such as plating vendors, heat treat plants, customers and other related destinations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

• Safety is the number one priority. In order to maintain the highest safety standard, the driver shall follow all CA driving laws. The driver shall read, understand, and follow the California Drivers Handbook (attached). The driver shall comply with “Defensive Driving Techniques”.
• The driver shall represent STR in a professional manner while performing job duties including customer and vendor during deliveries and pickups. That means the driver shall behave in a respectful and professional manner when interacting with all customers and vendors. The driver shall also drive in a manner that is respectful to others on the road and representative of STR’s value of Mutual Respect.
• Verifies load against shipping papers. Counts parts and makes sure to delivery quantity stated on Purchase Order.
• Drives truck to destination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and roads in area to obtain quickest routes.
• Maintains truck mileage log according to state and federal regulations.
• Maintains telephone contact with Expeditor to receive delivery instructions.
• Loads and unloads truck. Secures all loads to truck bed so movement is not possible.
• Forklift Certified
• Inspects truck equipment and supplies, such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water. Records all maintenance performed in truck maintenance log.
• (May) Performs emergency roadside repairs, such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, fuses, tire chains, and spark plugs.
• To ensure driver and vehicle safety, supports the use of Verizon Connect GPS Tracking, Forward-Facing Video Camera, and Driver-Facing Video Camera by agreeing to be recorded while driving company vehicles, ensuring the equipment is not damaged or tampered with, and verifying the equipment is in good working order.

MARGINAL/LESS ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Assists Supply Chain Team in packaging, counting and maintaining order in the shipping dept.
• Loads and unloads customer trucks delivering parts to shipping dept.
