We provide In-House CDL training for individuals who are looking to start a career in the Underground Utilities / Hydro excavation Industry. In this role you will work as a Hydrovac Laborer while going through CDL training to obtain your CDL License to become an Hydrovac Operator.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Assist Hydrovac Operator with jetting and general excavation
  • Provide hydro excavation services in support of daily operations
  • Work along side Hydrovac Operators in order to ensure employee skill development
  • Potholing existing underground utilities for HDD work
  • Enter confined spaces when required based on job scope
  • Document daily inspections for any Pre/post trip issues
  • Assist in performing pre and post-trip inspections, as well as routine maintenance
  • Maintain function equipment and inspect hoses, valves, gauges, etc before daily use
  • Load or assist with loading materials or equipment
  • Utilize hand tools to dig near existing underground utilities
  • Assist in securing work site, equipment, and materials at the end of each job
  • Repetitive lifting of vac piping connections

Success Factors:

  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often under adverse climatic conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs multiple times during a work shift
  • Ability to climb, dig, work in tight spaces, on uneven surfaces, walking, stooping, and kneeling
  • Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instruction
  • Ability to work well independently and as a part of a team with co-worker· Ability to pass motor vehicle, criminal background check, and comply with drug-free workplace policy
  • English usage sufficient to keep records, place orders, and prepare simple narrative reports
  • Knowledge of basic underground utilities
  • Skills in operating heavy equipment and machines proficiently and safely· Ability to use time and equipment efficiently to complete projects on time· Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Mapping and Print Reading
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Minimum of 1 year of related experience or training
  • Mechanical ability; and knowledge of equipment and heavy vehicle operation, maintenance, and repair
  • Willingness and ability to learn additional skills

Experience and Education:

  • 1-2 years of Manual Laboring Experience preferred
  • Standard Driver License Required
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-to-year basis

Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:

  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver’s License is required within two weeks of employment.
  • Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
