Lake Valley Hospice is hiring a Hospice Aide to join our team!

Hospice Aide:

Our Hospice Aide is a valued member of the interdisciplinary team who reports to the Director of Nursing and provides the highest level of end-of-life clinical standards to the patients and caregivers we serve.

This is a full-time, non-exempt (hourly) position.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Physical Requirements: requires considerable physical effort for most of the day including kneeling, squatting, reaching, twisting, climbing, walking, lifting, and transferring patients. This position will have exposure to temperature and humidity changes.

  • Mental Requirements: must be able to work independently, make judgements based on assessments with ability to respond accordingly. Must be flexible, innovative, and possess good interpersonal skills. Must be able to demonstrate emotional stability.

  • · Essential functions:

    • Under the direction and ongoing supervision of the Registered Nurse provide personal care assistance to the patient (bathing, grooming, toileting, transferring, home making, etc.).

    • Provide emotional support and compassionate care to patients and caregivers.

    • Maintain required communication and competency skills as documented in initial and ongoing supervision and evaluation by the Registered Nurse.

    • Participate in the interdisciplinary team on-call rotation.

    • Must have a current, valid driver’s license, auto liability insurance, and reliable transportation.

Education and experience:

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Graduate from an approved training and competency course with licensure as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

  • Minimum two years of nursing assistant experience preferred.

  • Comfort in working with patients at end-of-life with acceptance of unique social, racial, cultural, and religious beliefs.
