Position Title: Safety Health & Environmental Coordinator

Location: IL Bedford Park 1

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Carry out job safety analysis and safety inspection programs.
• Maintain the ISO 14001 environmental management system.
• Conducts periodic on-site facility audits to check for compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulatory requirements must have familiarity with environmental and DOT regulations.
• Meets with State and Federal OSHA inspectors should they visit the site.
• Maintain and conduct the Emergency Action Plans and drills.
• Investigates the root causes of accidents and prepares reports with the findings and corrective actions.
• Administers the safety training and incentive programs.
• Schedules safety meetings and acts as a resource for the group.
• Works with management to confirm compliance with organization, federal, and state regulations.
• Handles reporting of incidents, leads investigations, and works with management to develop action plans to correct issues.
• Coordinates the organization's health and safety training programs and maintains Safety Data Sheets.

Education/Experience - Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Associates of Science in Occupational Safety and Health, or Business Administration or related field required.
• Knowledge or experience with maintaining or working in an ISO 14001 environment.
• Minimum of two years of relevant experience within a manufacturing environment
• Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to communicate to all levels of the organization both verbally and in writing.
• Computing skills including Microsoft Office Suite, software collaboration tools, database management, and experience using a modern ERP system (i.e. Oracle, SAP, IFS, etc.).
• Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred.

Work Environment:

This individual works in a multi-level industrial environment requiring work in high precarious places via ladders and steps inside and outside the plant in all types of weather conditions. This individual is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and some hazardous chemicals. The plant utilizes high levels of electricity and individuals have to be safety minded in all activities. The work environment is dusty.

Noise:

Moderate - Industrial noise levels characteristic of moving mechanical equipment.
