Under general direction, the Collaborative Courts Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the activities, policy and program support, and successful operation of the Superior Court of California, County of Santa Cruz’s collaborative courts. The position is responsible for working with judicial officers, court staff, and county justice partners to ensure the successful operation of the various collaborative courts, including but not limited to Mental Health Diversion, Behavioral Health Court, Veterans’ Court, and Family Preservation Court. Incumbents perform professional program support work under directions, exercising substantial independent judgment within established policies, procedures, and guidelines. Incumbents must be able to adapt to frequently changing assignments and must be able to respond appropriately to unusual or unexpected situations. Incumbents are often accountable for dealing effectively with a variety of clients and people with diverse socio-economic backgrounds, temperaments, and mental capabilities. They must also exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality of information. Incumbents will be the sole source of coverage for Behavioral Health Court and Family Preservation Court. The position will also cover other collaborative courts when absences occur and be the sole point person for the case management system.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Responsible for working with the collaborative courts’ judges, supporting their leadership role by coordinating collaborative court programs activities. Provides judicial officers with administrative and technical support to increase operational functioning of each of the collaborative court programs. Use professional judgment by working independently when necessary and advising collaborative court judges where appropriate. Creates case plans, manages participant intake and refer participants to resources.Works with Court management, staff, and justice partners to calendar and coordinate court case referrals to the appropriate collaborative court. Serves as a liaison between service providers and the Courts for the purposes of admitting/denying referrals to specialty courts and acts as the court officer.Serves as liaison between Court participants and the Courts.Maintains data and reports in case management system; Generates and distributes reports to the court concerning participants’ status.Assists in updating policies and procedures as needed.Assists in the preparation of reports and accounts for expenditure of funds;Cooperates effectively with justice system partners including probation, medical care providers, and community partners; Purchases and tracks the distribution of incentives to participants.Organizes the graduation ceremonies for those who have successfully completed the program.Prepares and assists presentations to judges, criminal justice partners, and policymakers regarding program outcomes and program data; and all other duties as directed. Other duties as assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Working Conditions The work environment is generally clean inside buildings with limited exposure to dust, fumes, odors, and noise. Incumbent will be working under sometimes difficult and stressful conditions, with frequent deadlines and the expectation to produce high-quality work under limited time constraints; exposure to people who may be verbally or physically abusive, allergens such as perfumes and dust, and unpleasant odors. Periodic, regular, and/or occasional contact with employees in other court divisions, government agencies, the public and/or vendors that requires the ability to converse and respond appropriately to inquiries and requests. The ability to work independently as well as closely with others is required.
