Job Summary:
Functions as a Medical Technologist in the Core Laboratory and Blood Bank.Performs qualitative and quantitative analysis on patient specimens in the Hematology, Chemistry, Blood Bank, Microscopy, and Microbiology sections of the Core Laboratory. Adhere to appropriate quality control, QA, maintenance, and calibration procedures. Process specimens and prepare for analysis using established laboratory protocols. Trouble shoot lab instruments and methodologies. Perform appropriate computer data entry of patient information, demographics, etc. Participate in department activities as requested (continuing education, mandatory in services, compliance program, hospital/campus polices and procedures). Practice patient confidentiality, lab safety, universal precautions, and excellent customer service.
Minimum Qualifications:
NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist or eligible, BS degree in Laboratory Science or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent oral/written communication and organizational skills strongly desired.
