SUNY Polytechnic Institute is seeking a Full Stack Web Developer to join its Information Technology Services department. The successful candidate will work closely with staff and faculty to maintain and advance the organization's websites, website services, and social media presence through feature implementation, function enhancement, system integration, and webpage creation while developing and maintaining new and existing SUNY Poly web servers.

  • Planning, developing, testing, and maintaining SUNY Poly's websites, website services, web applications, web servers, web stacks, microsites, and social media platforms to promote the institution's educational research, and economic development programs and activities.
  • Oversee and implement compliance measures with ADA, SUNY EIT, Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and future applicable policy for all web assets under the responsibility of ITS. Oversight of accessibility compliance for all web assets under the responsibility of ITS and implementation thereof.
  • Development and maintenance of web applications with multidirectional data flow. Develop code to increase website and web application efficiency, and feature enhancements including but not limited to calendaring solutions, directories, announcements, and web-based student services.
  • Development and maintenance of the dataflow integration component of the institution's mass email solution. Maintain analytic information about websites(s) to assist the marketing/communications team with planning.
  • Development and maintenance of new and existing SUNY Poly web servers.
  • Train and assist faculty in the proper use of faculty sites and web-based instructional sites.
  • Other reasonable duties as assigned.

Salary: $55,000 - $75,000

Job Requirements:


Minimum Requirements:

Associate's degree in a related field from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.

OR a Bachelor's degree in a related field from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.

OR equivalent and demonstrable experience in web architecture and other information technologies.

One year of web development experience using the following technologies is required:

  • Content management systems: Drupal, WordPress
  • Server Side Technologies: PHP required, all others a plus.
  • Web Technologies: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery
  • Data Formatting Technologies: XML, XSL, JSON, YAML
  • Database Technologies: MySQL, MS SQL
  • Authentication Technologies: LDAP, CAS
  • Web/Application Servers: NGINX, Apache, Tomcat, strong Linux skills (specifically in Red Hat Enterprise Linux)
  • Utility Language: FTP, SSH, SCP, Shell Scripting
  • Ability to work both independently and closely with others according to project needs
  • Proactive attitude and willingness to work in a team atmosphere
