Job purpose
SunTree Snack Foods sources, produces and packages private label and SunTree brand nut, seed, dried fruit, trail mixes and confections. SunTree’s private label and branded products have nationwide distribution in the grocery, club and mass channels. SunTree owns and operates an agricultural brokerage business which affords us a procurement and supply chain advantage. The Machine Operator I is responsible for all aspects of machine operation and changeover activities to achieve and maintain production requirements. The Machine Operator is also responsible to perform all jobs safely, efficiently and accurately while providing leadership principles to the production line
Duties and responsibilities
· Understand and use Sun Tree GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices)
· Understand and use Sun Tree’s Container color coding program (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures)
· Understand Sun Tree’s HACCP program and CCPs (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point)
· Understand and use safely all cleaning chemicals
· Understand Start-up and shut-down of filling / packaging line
· Develop and review machine standard run conditions
· Understand and complete production paperwork
· Understand and knowledgeable in running 1-2 types of Machines
· Capable of troubleshooting more than 1-2 types of Machinery when needed
· Must report any unsafe acts and conditions to the appropriate manager
· Responsible for working as a team to ensure the plant is in audit ready at all times

o Production Report – input and outputs
· Lead / Motivate Team
o Understand and operate under 5S
· Understand and meet production and quality goals
o Complete white boards with hourly production numbers
o Understand fill weights and MAV.
o Product “Gold Standards”
o Proper Packaging, Codes, Labels, etc.
· Evaluate and Train Line Staff
· Notify appropriate manager of “tools and equipment” needing repair
· Report accidents, property damage and near misses to manager
· Perform miscellaneous tasks as requested by management.
· Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position
· Responsible on following all Safety and food Safety guidelines
Qualifications
· Requires ability to read and write in English
· Experience setting up and adjusting production processing or packaging machinery is preferred
· Self-motivated, shows initiative, detail orientated and demonstrates the skill in multi-tasking.
· Ability to perform basic math calculation
Working conditions and Physical requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
The employee must frequently lift, push and/or move items weighing 40 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Facility may incur extreme temperature variation and other hazards as incurred in the food manufacturing and packaging process. May be exposed to loud noise from moving forklifts and production equipment.
Requires wearing company uniform, with company provided hairnet/beard net/safety cap, ear plugs, safety glasses etc. when in production, roasting room, warehouse, panning and maintenance area. Work is completed in a facility where nuts, fruits and other allergens are present.
