JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Director of Manufacturing Maintenance or the Manager of Electrical Maintenance, responsible for the installation, modification, preventive maintenance and repair of plant production and facility equipment and machinery utilizing their mechanical and electrical skills. Must be able to fabricate and assemble maintenance and facility parts to dimensional specifications utilizing machine shop equipment.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
1. Working from blueprints, engineering drawings, schematics, verbal instructions, and detailed repair drawings, installs, relocates, or modifies plant production or facility equipment and machinery.
2. Performs troubleshooting operations, conduct diagnoses, and make adjustments and repairs on production or facility equipment and machinery as required.
3. Coordinate daily work activity with the Director of Manufacturing Maintenance or the Manager of Electrical Maintenance.
4. Effectively install, relocate, or modify production or facility electrical equipment and machinery, including power and control wiring, switchgear and lighting in conformance with applicable state and local building and electrical codes.
5. Fabricates and assembles parts related to electrical and/or electronic installations, utilizing available shop equipment.
6. Machines, fabricates and assemble parts to dimensional specifications utilizing hand tools, drill press, lathe, end mill, welder (Mig & TIG), horizontal band saw, belt/disc sander, sheet metal shear, sheet metal swing break, box & pan break, pedestal grinder, ironworker, sheet metal roller, vertical band saw, arbor press, and hydraulic press.
7. Perform set-up operations, making appropriate adjustments and repairs, conducting calibrations, and performing data entry to production and facility equipment and machinery as required.
8. Must be able to perform intermediate mathematical calculations related to the job.
9. Works closely with plant electricians in the installation, troubleshooting and repair of production and facility equipment and machinery.
10. Must effectively communicate with Directors, Managers, Supervisors, Leaders and Co-Workers.
11. Operates forklift and aerial/scissor lifts on a limited basis.
12. Keeps work areas, shop, equipment, and tools clean and orderly using common cleaning equipment.
13. Dismantle equipment and machinery when required for repair or maintenance and reassemble when repairs or maintenance are completed.
14. Align and calibrate machinery and equipment as required for efficient and safe operations.
15. Direct Maintenance Mechanics and/or Production Equipment Operators when interacting with or using equipment or machinery.
16. Replace defective equipment and machinery parts and adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts.
17. Inspect and perform preventative maintenance on equipment and machinery as required.
18. Must be able to use hand tools, analog and digital multimeters, power supplies, logic probe and pulser, and other applicable equipment.
19. Performs major overhauls of plant production and facility equipment with minimum supervision.
20. Assists in training and instructing Maintenance Mechanics or other designated personnel in equipment installation, modification, and adjustment or overhaul operations.
21. Completes all required reports and records as necessary.
22. Maintains oil and water in forklift.
23. Responsible for ensuring safe working conditions and safe work practices in assigned area.
24. Must be able to work overtime if required.
25. Must be able to lift 70 pounds and maneuver 75-pound fuel tank.
26. Performs other duties relating to the overall effort as directed.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate.
2. Must be a certified aerial/scissor lift and forklift operator.
3. High school diploma/GED required.
4. Extensive knowledge of production equipment and machinery.
5. Efficient time-management skills.
6. Mechanical – Must have a strong mechanical aptitude
7. Technical – Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, schematics and detailed repair drawings related to production equipment and machinery.
8. Troubleshooting - Must be able to follow a problem to the source and solve the issue
9. Must pass company approved exam.
10. Must complete appropriate orientation or training program:
a) Orientation program:
i. Complete 960 hours of work in role of Millwright.
ii. Demonstrate through work performance evaluation ability to consistently perform Millwright work, both in quality and efficiency.
