Custodian Orange County Schools

Position Summary : Under the direction of the school principal and custodian leader, the custodian / handyman performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled jobs in the maintenance, construction, alteration, and repair of buildings, grounds, and equipment.

This position also provides quality custodial services to the education, administrative, and support units on school campuses.

This position works Monday through Friday from 12pm until 6 : 30pm.

Responsibilities :

• Responsible for the performance of facility maintenance such as light plumbing, changing of light ballasts, and bulbs, carpentry, painting, and other repairs at all assigned sites
• Responsible for maintaining the property through janitorial duties i.e., cleaning, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming of facilities.
• During winter months Cleans snow from entrances and sidewalks at all assigned sites.
• Responsible for grounds maintenance to include sweeping, landscaping and other work at all assigned sites
• Assist with set up / tear down of tables and chairs for group meetings.
• Assists in checking facilities for safety hazards and report any deficiencies.
• Responsible for ensuring all windows and entrances / exits are secured at end of work shift.
• Conducts regular maintenance of property such as pest control, machines, and alarm system.
• Responsible for moving of furniture and supplies as directed by Supervisor.
• Tracks maintenance repairs throughout property and conducts daily / weekly building walkthroughs.
• Responsible for maintenance and cleaning the school and its surroundings.
• Maintaining cleaning equipment.
• Maintaining inventory of cleaning agents and equipment.

Requirements :

• Basic knowledge of cleaning equipment and agents.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Resilient to cleaning agents and chemicals.
