Assistant Buyer

Position Summary: Assists in executing the overall short and long term strategy for assigned category/ categories. This includes supporting the buyers with, vendor relationships, marketing products, financial analysis, maintenance of products and suppliers. The duties of the Assistant Buyer shall be performed while demonstrating all of Sunshine Ace Hardware’s Core Values.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Reordering: Place replenishment orders according to the merchandising strategy to maintain appropriate inventory levels and reduce “out of stock” conditions
• Vendor Relationship: Support the Merchandising organization with its vendor relationship in regards to purchasing, receiving and accounting for merchandise.
• Analysis: Assist Buyers and CMO with analyzing department, category and or product performance
• Merchandising Execution: Assist with executing merchandising strategy to understand key business drivers (e.g. historical performance, industry/ competitive landscape, consumer segmentation) May serve as a principal contributor on various key projects within a business function
• Business Administration: Support the merchandising team with ad hoc projects.

• Store Support: Assist stores in resolving issues relating to merchandising or vendors

• Assists Retail Buyer on reporting for strategic plans and providing updates on the progress of key metrics to Sr Leadership for assigned category line(s)/department(s)

• Understanding of retail business operations and merchandising

• Proficient with Google Products Suite and Microsoft Office, specialized with Excel

• Perform detailed work related to purchasing with judgment, accuracy, confidentiality and promptness

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration or directly related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Proven experience in merchandising execution, retail sales, visual presentation, new concepts, inventory management, channel management, and supplier management

• Proven ability to manage large scale projects in a complex environment;

• Proven proficiency in both a brick and mortar retail environment;

• Experience supporting a business

• Bilingual (Spanish) verbal and written communication desired
