We are currently seeking a Warehouse Systems Engineer to join our Information Technology team for our Laredo, Texas facility. The main duties of this role is to deliver warehouse management business solutions through application development and/or configuration as well as support activities. This includes troubleshooting applications and software for all internal customers, such as operations, supply chain, and other business units. The Warehouse Systems Engineer is also responsible to define, develop, test, analyze, maintain, and improve in-house and vendor provided software applications. This includes coding, testing, and analyzing software programs, configurations, and applications. The Warehouse Systems Engineer will also research, design, document, and modify software specifications throughout the systems development life cycle.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work with cross-functional teams consisting of workstream leads, consultants / contractors, and facility managers on software support, maintenance, and defect fix for outage reductions.
  • Demonstrates problem solving ability that allows for effective and timely resolution of system issues including but not limited to production outages.
  • Demonstrates general understanding of hardware/software platforms including but not limited to operating systems, databases, application servers, web servers and integration technologies.
  • Plan and execute system implementations that ensure success and minimize risk of system outages or other negative production impacts.
  • Analyzes production system operations utilizing proactive monitoring, alerting, and capacity analysis. Lead root cause analysis to identify and drive change that ensures continuous improvement in system stability and performance.
  • Understand business requirements and supply chain integrations and support across software platforms.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of software development techniques and fluency in software languages and application programming interfaces
  • Build and manage relationships with various business leaders in operations, distribution, and others.
  • Perform software application testing supporting various cross-functional team’s projects and/or defect testing
  • Collaborate with software vendor partners as a technical SME/liaison, understanding application architecture, schema and existing or future interfaces.
  • Plan and address the stability, risk, and recovery concerns of WMS application suite by collaborating with software vendor, shared services, and managed services partners.
  • Development of policies, procedures and providing training/support/documentation to end users.
  • Provide Tier 3 level support for Warehouse Application Systems

Position Requirements

Formal Education & Certification

  • A university degree in the field of computer science, information systems, or a related field, and at least 7 years of related work experience.
  • Education and/or certifications with significant experience in supply chain management, warehouse management system design and scripting are desired.

Knowledge & Experience

  • In-depth, hands-on knowledge of and experience with enterprise applications, including warehouse management systems (Blue Yonder preferred).
  • Proven experience with troubleshooting principles, methodologies, and issue resolution techniques.
  • Broad knowledge of programming languages and techniques, including scripting languages used for automation.
  • Extensive application support experience with mission-critical large-scale systems such as Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Data Warehouse environments.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Able to develop and interpret technical documentation for training and end-user procedures.
  • Knowledge of trends in technology relating to warehouse systems and software applications.

Work Conditions

  • Occasional travel between company locations required.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Able to maneuver and work inside the warehouse environment.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components.
  • Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
