• Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all equipment in the plant to include the refrigeration system. Must have ability to problem solve maintenance issues in real time. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Day to day maintenance to include ability to trouble shoot and repair mechanical, electrical and refrigeration problems.
• Perform preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and systems on a scheduled basis.
• Routine inspection of existing equipment, such as compressors, condensers, electrical connections and motor operations.
• Dismantle malfunctioning systems and test components, using electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic testing equipment.
• Obtain estimates for parts and supplies as needed to maintain equipment in good working condition while controlling cost and remaining on budget.
• Complete daily, weekly and monthly checklists on equipment maintenance and accurately maintain records.
• Maintain an effective working relationship within functional area and with other departments for optimal performance and quality.
• Establish and maintain a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to all SSF policies as well as federal, state and local regulations.
• Understand and Exemplify the SSF Core Values.
• Other duties assigned as required.

Qualifications: 

• Required: Three (3) to Five (5) years of Industrial Mechanic and Refrigeration experience or a combination of experience and education (food industry environment preferred).
• Working knowledge of equipment to include hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, valves, cylinders, labeling equipment, fillers, and conveyors.
• Working knowledge of 3 phase power wiring.
• Skilled in the use of hand, power tools, tape measures, multi-meters.
• Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints and both electrical and electronic schematics.
• Understanding the operations of commercial refrigeration systems.
• Diagnosing malfunctions and defects in equipment.
• Reading blueprints and electrical and electronic schematics.
• Grasping electrical and plumbing concepts.
• Operating tools, gauges and other testing equipment for refrigeration systems.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to work overtime and weekends (as needed). 

Working conditions

• Frequently exposed to wet and cold environment (45ºF, 4ºC), moving mechanical parts.
• Will be exposed to moderate noise levels.

Physical Requirements:

• Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb or balance, reach with hands and arms, use hands to feel or handle objects, talk and hear.
• Climb step and extension type ladders.
• Occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
• Specific visual requirements include; close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception.
• Ability to use Respiratory Protective Equipment and work in confined spaces (as needed).
