Job Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activity Assistant to join our team. As an Activity Assistant, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents by planning and implementing engaging activities. This position is ideal for individuals who have a passion for working with seniors and creating meaningful experiences. Experience with memory care is a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing a variety of activities for residents in assisted living or nursing home settings
- Engage residents in social, recreational, and therapeutic activities to promote physical and mental well-being
- Provide support to residents during activities, ensuring their safety and comfort
- Assist with scheduling and coordinating activities to ensure a diverse range of options for residents
- Collaborate with other staff members to create a positive and stimulating environment
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and progress
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff members
Requirements:
- Previous experience in caregiving or working with seniors is preferred
- Knowledge of ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) and senior care practices
- Familiarity with dementia care techniques is a plus
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with residents
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to manage schedules and coordinate multiple activities simultaneously
- Understanding of aging issues and the ability to provide counseling when needed
