Billing Specialist:

The Billing Specialist is responsible for processing governmental insurance, private insurance, third party payors, patient accounts, workman’s compensation, and any other corresponding billing issues. The Billing Specialist post charges, payments, adjustments and regularly communicates with patients regarding account balances. This is position is specifically Dental focused.

Position Summary:

With a Quality, Customer First, and Compassionate approach, The Billing Specialist will:

• Verify insurance carriers, policy numbers and covered and non-covered benefits.
• Prepare, submit, and receive payment on medical and dental insurance claims.
• Track, analyze, research, and follow up on open and/or delinquent accounts and claims.
• Research, correct and re-bill denied claims.
• Communicate with patients regarding their account in a way which is understood.
• Set-up payment plans as suggested/requested.
• Research and verify any coverage of benefits for payments.
• Follow-up on open and delinquent accounts.
• Adjust account balances and explain activity on the account; charges, payments, sliding fees, etc.
• Code, post and prepare payments for deposit to bank.
• ICD9, CPT, and ADA coding of encounters and data entry of charges into Accounts Receivable software.
• Balance daily batches.
• Ensure all encounters are in the system for month end closing.
• Analyze and prepare encounters for following day appointments.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1-year accounts receivable experience and/or training, preferably in a Dental environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Medical Terminology is preferred.
• General knowledge of medical terminology, CPT/HCPCS and ICD codes is preferred.
