Position Overview & General Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities of the Administrator of Health Services are to oversee the skilled nursing and health care related components of our skilled nursing neighborhoods. Sunnyside is currently seeking an experienced Health Services Administrator to join our family in support of the 84 resident- capacity skilled nursing neighborhood.   • Perform job duties and responsibilities in a safe and responsible manner. Maintain knowledge of safety policies and procedures related to job and equipment operated. Adhere to all safety policies and procedure. Use professional or job related knowledge to assess risk and safety issues and respond appropriately.
  • Schedule and direct the work of the department staff. Utilizing delegation to the Director of Nursing and the Assistant Director of Nursing. Supervise department staff and provide leadership and direction as needed.
  • Conduct performance evaluations within designated time periods. Ensure that staff follows all departmental and company policies and procedures. Counsel and/or issue disciplinary action as required by company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that appropriate staffing levels are maintained with qualified and trained staff. Ensure departmental orientation and training is conducted for each new employee who onboards into the department. 
  • Develops, interprets and initiates policies and procedures for the Healthcare staff with oversight and approval of the Executive Director. Continuously improves Health Care Services for residents. Makes appropriate policy or procedure changes to comply with state and federal regulations.
  • Direct various recruitment and hiring actions to scree, interview, and select job applicants for jobs as required. Fill positions with best qualified personnel making application.
  • Establishes cooperative and effective work relationships with interrelated departments. Ensures open communication and positive work relationships exist between other departments and Nursing.
  • Contact families when necessary. Returns calls from family members promptly and makes any necessary calls as required.
  • Researches and develops plans of action for working effectively with important resident problem areas. Addresses resident concerns and ensures plans for resolving are in place within a timeframe agreeable to both resident and family.
  • Coordinate budget process. Works with department directors to outline yearly budgets. Coordinates capital expenditure needs for each budget year. Ensures equipment and/or furnishings are available for high quality resident care.
  • Ensure work is completed as described in the job descriptions. Ensure job descriptions are up-to-date. Ensure staff’s quality of work is satisfactory. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Have a valid VA NHA license with a minimum of five years’ experience as an administrator in a CCRC environment.
  • Possess knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and CMS regulations.
  • Possess solid communication skills for hospitable, clear, and concise interactions with residents, staff, and others. 
  • Possess strong organizational, leadership and team-building skills.
  • Strong business acumen and budget knowledge 
  • Ability to communicate in English effectively both orally and in writing. 

Physical & Environmental Considerations:  

  • Normal lighting levels, temperature ranges, air quality, ventilation and noise levels. 
  • Lifts, carries, pushes or otherwise manipulates equipment and office materials weighing up to 50lbs. Always use proper lifting and moving protocols and techniques.
  • Contact with blood, body fluids. Minimal hazards if required Universal Precautions are followed.
