Sunnyside Care Center is Hiring a Director of Food and Nutritional Services Near East Syracuse, NY

Sunnyside Care Center is looking for a Director of Food and Nutritional Services to assist in the planning, organizing, developing and direction of the overall Dietary Department in accordance with the current applicable Federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day operations by delegating authority, assigning, and prioritizing department functions and monitoring their daily outcomes
  • Ensure food service operates within established budgetary guideline
  • Monitor food control systems such as food temperatures, portion control, preparation, and presentation of food
  • Knowledge of local, State, Federal regulations, and survey inspection process
  • Plan, assign and inspect the work of the Food Service Team
  • Monitor the storage and care of the food and paper supplies
  • Manage the HR functions of the department which include interviewing, hiring, orientation, discipline and supervision of the team
  • Educate assigned team members on infraction of established rules, policies, or guidelines
  • Oversee the overall sanitation and cleaning of the kitchen, storage, dining areas, and equipment
  • Assist as needed within the department
  • Other duties as assigned by the facilities administrator

This key leadership position is responsible for the successful operation of the Food & Nutrition Department in the Nursing Home and as the Director of Dietary Services you will under general direction plan, direct, coordinate and manage the food service activities and operations including, but not limited to procurement, receiving, storage, preparation, and menu planning.

Responsibilities:
- Manage the kitchen operations and ensure smooth functioning of the nutrition services department
- Supervise and lead a team of kitchen staff, providing guidance and support as needed
- Assist in food production and preparation, ensuring high quality and adherence to safety standards
- Oversee inventory management, including ordering and stock rotation
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, visitors, and staff

Skills:
- Strong kitchen management skills, including knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
- Ability to effectively manage a team, providing direction and support as needed
- Experience in food production and preparation, with a focus on nutritious meals
- Culinary skills, including knowledge of various cooking techniques and recipes
