We look forward to meeting you.Job DescriptionPlansand implements programs on all units throughout the facility daily. These programs support, maintain, or improvethe emotional, spiritual, and/or social behavior of each resident to promotegrowth and development of each individual resident. Groups are resident focused and include; recreational,religious, intellectual, social, service orientated and exercise typeprogramming. Developsmonthly organizational plans for assigned programs including goals, neededsupplies and methods of presentation.Provideone to one therapeutic programs to individuals that are at times unable toparticipate in structured programs; i.e.; poor attention span, restlessness or behaviors.Transportsresidents to and from programs, pushing wheelchairs and activity carts.Providesinput to the Activity Director regarding residents progress during programming,assisting the Activity Director by completing paperwork related to Careplanning needs; Activity Attendance and Activity Progress notes. Documentsprogress and responses of residents during programming in order to fulfillstate requirements.Workswith community groups and volunteers, accompanying residents on outings in theSunny Ridge Van. Valid Drivers Licenseto drive the facility van. Operates allequipment in department including music system, DVD players, sewing machines and maintainsinventory on supplies.Responsiblefor physical set-up, clean-up and safety in the department sorting, packing andmoving supplies.Assistsin the orientation of new Sunny Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center volunteersby explaining the principles and activities of the activity department.Assistin identifying potential at-risk situations; i.e. poor safety awareness, falls,personal harm, harm to others, restlessness, wandering.Performsother duties as assigned.Abilityto verbally communicate with the residents and residents families, and toexercise tact in dealing with problems concerning residents care.Performsrepetitive motions including bending, twisting, stooping, pushing and pulling.Abilityto stand for an extended period of time without a significant rest period. QualificationsHighschool diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three monthsrelated experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education andexperience.Abilityto work flexible hours and variable shifts, every other weekend and any otherexpectations based on resident needs.Someknowledge of modern methods and practices of activity therapy as applied toresidents in a skilled care institution.Someknowledge of activity therapy materials and equipment.Someknowledge of Sunny Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center routines andprocedures.Iscreative and flexible. Is able to workwith a variety of personalities and provide a variety of activitiessimultaneously yet able to provide structure and routine. Is able to create a calming environment. Is able to improvise and reformat dailyactivities based on resident needs, moods and behaviors.Abilityto secure the cooperation of residents in activity health situations.Abilityto make simple analysis regarding the program and response of residents.Abilityto push wheelchairs, and transport residents in and out of facility (bus/van)for activity needs.Abilityto read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, andmemos.Abilityto effectively present information in one-on-one, to customers, clients, andother employees of the organization.Someknowledge of PC operations and software are required.
