Overnight Emergency Veterinary Technicians

Signing bonus!*

Suncoast Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center is seeking full time team members to join our team on overnight shifts.

Work 3 nights a week and enjoy your days on the beautiful sunny beaches of Sarasota!

As a Veterinary Professional, you already have a good idea as to the day-to-day requirements of being a talented Veterinary Technician.

Here are some key skills we are seeking that are particularly relevant to this opportunity :

  • Provide friendly, quality care to our clients. Provide and maintain a high standard of patient care, including but not limited to :
  • Discharging patients from the clinic
  • Fill prescriptions
  • Draw blood
  • Obtain vitals on patients
  • Assist in inducing and maintaining patients under sedation or anesthesia.
  • Maintain a high standard of patient care
  • IV catheter placement and maintenance.
  • Medication administration
  • Assist with surgical procedures, including preparation and monitoring of the patient.
  • Knowledge of drugs and their dosages / uses
  • Recognizing and reporting pain, distress, or any other patient concerns.
  • Assist in emergency services (CPR, unaided catheterization / intubation, drug administration)

Skills and Knowledge

  • Minimum 1 year veterinary hospital experience, preferably in Emergency and / or Urgent Care
  • Effective communication with clients and staff members
  • Ability to safely lift objects or pets of at least 50lbs (you may ask for assistance)
  • Ability to work with or without direct supervision
  • Restrain and control cats and dogs of any temperament
  • Recognize concerning behaviors in pets
  • Make conversions and calculations
  • Adapt to different needs and preferences of different doctors.
  • Ask questions when any task or procedure is unclear
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge of hospital procedures and operating instruction
