Position: Community System Coordinator, Manatee County

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Mission and Statement of Cooperation:

The mission of the Suncoast Partnership to End Homelessness (SPEH) is to prevent and end homelessness by uniting the communities of Manatee and Sarasota Counties through engagement and collaboration with business and civic leaders, service providers, faith-based organizations, advocates, concerned citizens, and people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. SPEH encourages and expects a high degree of cooperation and collaboration among its staff and stakeholders. The specific duties of each position require flexibility and cooperation to achieve organizational goals and objectives.

Summary:

The person in this position is responsible for facilitating and leading the efforts in Manatee County to effectively address homelessness in collaboration with social service agencies, government officials, funders, those with lived expertise in homelessness or housing instability, and the Suncoast Partnership team.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Mentors social service providers as it pertains to utilizing client-centered and strengths-based approaches to walk alongside clients, as they access the homeless crisis response system in Manatee County and the Continuum of Care (CoC).
  • Acts as liaison between clients and social service providers.
  • Implements Manatee County’s Roadmap to Address Homelessness in tandem with social service agencies, funders, those with lived experience, and Suncoast Partnership staff.
  • Documents and reports on work being done with social service providers, funders, those with lived experience, and the Homeless Task Force (HTF).
  • Facilitates street outreach efforts in Manatee County by utilizing best practices to connect those experiencing literal homelessness to services to assist in resolving their housing crisis and ensuring housing stability and self-sufficiency once housed.
  • Manages community by-name list (Oneby1).
  • Works with staff and the CoC to facilitate housing solutions for those experiencing homelessness through the Suncoast Housing Collaborative (SHC) initiative.
  • Completes monthly invoicing related to State and local grants in conjunction with staff.
  • Tracks, evaluates, and presents data related to Manatee County homelessness, CSIS system performance measures, coordinated entry, and other community data points as defined.
  • Upholds the values and advocates for the mission of Suncoast Partnership.
  • Participates in all required trainings.
  • Follows all policies and procedures of Suncoast Partnership.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Have at least two years of experience working within a homeless crisis response system or homeless services.
  • Demonstrates great initiative and project management skills.
  • Possess stellar communication and relationship building skills-particularly with a wide range of people (e.g. someone who is unsheltered, a local commissioner or funder, or a case manager).
  • Possesses facilitative leadership skills. We are convening a variety of stakeholders to work on a shared goal of ending homelessness. We are charged with building consensus, being able to drive plans forward, and remaining focused on the larger picture.
  • Loves teamwork and collaboration with an all hands-on-deck attitude, but also be self-directed and reliable when working independently.
  • Models best practices in service delivery and strategies for ending homelessness including, but not limited to, housing first, harm reduction, motivational interviewing, and being trauma informed.
  • Be very flexible, adaptable, and thrive in changing environments.
  • Must be an effective problem-solver and be a systems thinker.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the work environment.
  • Must possess excellent written communication skills.
  • Computer skills and data entry are required.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy is a must.
  • Must have reliable transportation, possess a driver’s license, and have appropriate vehicle insurance.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in the community and in an office setting.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to read computer screens and printed documents.
  • Ability to hear well enough to communicate with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Ability to speak the English language in an understandable manner.
  • Ability to type, to write, and to use a telephone.
  • Ability to be mobile by moving oneself from place to place quickly and easily, carry and lift, walk and climb stairs, bend, stoop or kneel, reach with hands and arms, and ability to walk through uneven or rough terrain.

If selected for the position, the applicant will need to complete and pass a level 2 background screening, as well as sign an Affidavit of Good Moral Character.
