Technician- Set Up_06H2 Summary: A Set-Up Technician is responsible for the installation and removal of molding equipment such as molds, fixtures, and auxiliary equipment. This employee must be capable of working with a minimum of supervision and with a variety of employees, including tool room personnel, process technicians, and maintenance technicians. Responsibilities: The following duties are considered essential to this position. Other responsibilities may be assigned. Use lifting devices such as fork trucks and cranes to install and remove injection molds.Assemble and disassemble equipment used in the injection and blow molding processes.Use diagnostic tools such as a voltage meter for problem solving.Understand mold and auxiliary equipment operations. Learn new tool operations.Understand press operations. Learn new press operation methods.Assist with training apprentices and less experienced employees. Ensure that safe and efficient work methods are used by all set up department members.Work with a minimum of supervision. Respond to changing priorities.Comply with all Suncast safety policies, quality standards, and housekeeping methods at all times. Suncast policies have been developed to ensure compliance with employee law.Complete applicable set-up department forms and documents.Work towards meeting established mold pull and set time standards and make recommendations that will improve/reduce these times.Stay informed of new technology, methods, and materials for this position.Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. One year of manufacturing experience or technical training desired.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to complete forms explaining required mold repairs.Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standard situations.Ability to learn how to use a personal computer with Windows-based programs.
