Assistant Supervisor-Production PL3_17H3 - Summary:The 3rd Shift Assistant Labor Supervisor is responsible monitoring the work of and maintaining records on employees on his or her shift. On the assigned shift he or she will ensure that labor is used effectively, correctly, and according to each employee’s skill level. The Assistant Labor Supervisor will focus on increasing labor productivity while maintaining operator safety and product quality. Responsibilities:The following duties are considered essential to this position. Other responsibilities may be assigned.n Oversee the molding team leaders assigned to the shift. Ensure team leaders implement and document the required training in a timely basis.n Schedule shift employee assignments using the provided software. Ensure employee assignments use employee skills effectively and fairly.n Coordinate shift team leaders for employee lunches and breaks. Ensure break rotation is done fairly and in a timely basis.n Conduct safety meetings. Ensure each shift employee attends at least one safety meeting each month.n Conduct departmental information meetings. These meetings will focus on communicating departmental and Suncast goals to all employees.n Monitor employee performance and adherence to Suncast rules. n Document substandard performance and rule violations in accordance with Suncast policy. n Stay informed of new technology, methods, and materials within the field.n Support and comply with all Suncast safety policies, quality standards, and housekeeping methods at all times. Suncast policies have been developed to ensure compliance with employee law.n Explain company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations.n Understand the concepts of the employee bargaining agreement (union contract) and ensure that work methods and discipline are in accordance with that agreement. If unsure of the contract requirements, seek assistance from human resources.n Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.n Assist workers in resolving work related problems.n Maintain employee time and production records. Supervisory Responsibilities:This position has supervisory responsibility for the following positions:n Cell leadersn Team leadersn OperatorsRequirements:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must score at the sixth grade or higher on a standard reading and math test. Three to five years of manufacturing experience preferred. Supervisory experience is a strong plus.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak to managers and the employees he or she supervises. Ability to communicate with the majority of the hourly workforce is required. This may require fluency in a second language. At this time the predominant language is Spanish. Bilingual a plus. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and schedule form.Basic PC skills required. Ability to learn to use Windows-based programs. Programs may include word processing for memos and other intra-office correspondence, spreadsheets with formulas and graphs, and specialized labor scheduling. Ability to learn to use iVP programs for data inquiries.Physical Demands :The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk within the manufacturing facility, and sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. This employee is expected to communicate effectively with others and use active listening skills. Vision ability requirements for this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. This is a full-time position. Due to seasonal variations in production schedules, this employee may be required to be on-call and to work additional hours, including weekends, to meet additional demands.Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
