Position: School Nurse (RN or LPN)

Job Type: Full-time

Job Summary:

The School Nurse (RN or LPN) will be responsible for promoting the health and well-being of all students and staff in the school. This includes providing direct nursing care to students, developing individualized health care plans, conducting health screenings, administering medications, and coordinating with parents, teachers, and healthcare providers to ensure that students receive appropriate medical care.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct nursing care to students with acute and chronic health conditions
• Develop and implement individualized health care plans for students with special health care needs
• Conduct health screenings, such as vision and hearing tests, and maintain accurate health records
• Administer medications and medical treatments as prescribed by a physician or authorized healthcare provider
• Monitor and manage communicable diseases and outbreaks in the school community
• Coordinate with parents, teachers, and healthcare providers to ensure that students receive appropriate medical care
• Educate students, staff, and parents on health-related topics and promote healthy lifestyles
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the school by ensuring compliance with applicable health and safety regulations
• Collaborate with other school personnel, such as counselors and psychologists, to address the social and emotional needs of students
• Participate in professional development activities to stay current on nursing practices and regulations

Qualifications:

• Current RN or LPN license in the state of MA
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in pediatric nursing or school nursing preferred
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to school health services
• CPR and first aid certification required
• Ability to use electronic medical records and other technology platforms
