Job Title: School Psychologist

Job Summary:Sunbelt isseeking a dedicated and enthusiastic School Psychologist to join our educational team in Portland, OR. The School Psychologist plays a critical role in supporting the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral well-being of students within the school community. Utilizing expertise in psychology and education, the School Psychologist collaborates with educators, administrators, parents, and other professionals to promote a positive and inclusive learning environment. Through assessment, intervention, consultation, and advocacy, the School Psychologist works to enhance student success and facilitate their overall development.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations to assess students' cognitive, academic, social, emotional, and behavioral functioning.
  • Interpret assessment results and provide recommendations for educational programming, intervention strategies, and accommodations to address students' diverse needs.
  • Collaborate with educators, parents, and other stakeholders to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) for students with special needs.
  • Provide direct support to students through individual counseling, group therapy, crisis intervention, and social skills training to address emotional and behavioral concerns.
  • Consult with teachers, administrators, and support staff to design and implement evidence-based interventions to support academic achievement and positive behavior.
  • Serve as a resource for school personnel on issues related to student mental health, learning disabilities, behavior management, and crisis prevention.
  • Conduct functional behavior assessments and develop behavior intervention plans for students displaying challenging behaviors, in collaboration with the school's behavior support team.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to review student progress, discuss intervention strategies, and make recommendations for further support.
  • Provide professional development and training to school staff on topics such as classroom management, trauma-informed practices, and social-emotional learning.
  • Collaborate with community agencies and mental health providers to coordinate services and support for students and families as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Master's or doctoral degree in school psychology from an accredited program.
  • State licensure or certification as a school psychologist, or eligibility for licensure/certification.
  • Knowledge of psychological assessment tools and techniques, including standardized tests, rating scales, and observational methods.
  • Strong understanding of child and adolescent development, learning theories, and evidence-based interventions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience conducting individual and group counseling with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with laws, regulations, and best practices related to special education services and student rights.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation to inform decision-making and program evaluation.
  • Commitment to cultural competence, equity, and inclusion in education and mental health services.
  • Continued professional development and willingness to stay current with research and best practices in the field of school psychology.
