Job Title: School Behavior Technician

Overview: Sunbelt isseeking a dedicated and enthusiastic School Behavior Technicianto join our educational team in Indianapolis, IN. The School Behavior Tech will work closely with teachers and other staff members to provide support and assistance in various educational settings. Responsibilities:

  • Assist Classroom Instruction: Collaborate with teachers to support classroom instruction by providing one-on-one or small group assistance to students.
  • Student Support: Offer academic support to students with diverse learning needs, including those with disabilities or English language learners, to ensure their comprehension and progress in lessons.
  • Behavioral Support: Implement behavior management strategies as directed by teachers to promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Classroom Management: Assist with classroom organization, setup, and maintenance to facilitate effective teaching and learning.
  • Supervision: Monitor students during various activities, such as lunchtime, recess, and field trips, ensuring their safety and adherence to school rules.
  • Administrative Tasks: Assist with administrative tasks such as record-keeping, grading, and preparing instructional materials to support teachers in their daily responsibilities.
  • Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with teachers, parents, and other school staff regarding student progress, concerns, and achievements.
  • Personal Care: Provide personal care assistance to students with special needs, including toileting, feeding, and mobility support, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Professional Development: Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance skills and stay updated on best practices in education and student support.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned by school administration to contribute to the overall functioning of the school community.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associates degree or higher in education or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children or in educational settings preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with students, teachers, parents, and other school staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting students academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to confidentiality guidelines and student privacy laws.
  • Willingness to undergo background and drug testsand clearances as required by state and federal regulations.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and the school community.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment for all students.

Working Conditions:

  • This position typically operates in a school environment.
  • Physical requirements include standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
