Sun Valley Resort is Hiring a Signature Gift Shop and Buying Manager Near Sun Valley, ID

The Signature Gift Shops and Buying Manager maintains the store Brand per the business goals set. The manager manages and coordinates activities for retail store employees by performing the following duties. The manager directly supervises 15 to 25 employees in the Retail Department. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Administrative:

  • Responsible for planning the overall sales and growth strategy and driving primary lines of business, including, but not limited to, labor, expenses, advertising, supply, and COGS; also plans and prepares annual store business plans with RD and ARD.
  • Manages stores following business plans and reviews monthly P&Ls to ensure accuracy and assess performance.
  • Sets Marketing/Advertising direction with the Retail Director & Senior Marketing Director; manages all marketing and advertising campaigns with the Marketing Department.
  • Orders supplies and equipment, including logoed bags, boxes, vacuums, and delegates to supervisor as needed.
  • Communicates and follows through with Sun Valley Resort’s Mission Statement and Retail Goals.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees in store policies, department procedures and job duties; processing payroll, managing Kronos, and handling HR-required paperwork and processes according to policies and procedures; responsible for onboarding and offboarding all employees.

Buy Strategy:

  • Sets store direction, product lines, and categories with the Retail Director.
  • Manages the Signatures Buyer; manages and approves open-to-buy strategy.
  • Recommend additions to or deletions of merchandise to be sold in the department to the Retail Director and buyers.
  • Meets weekly with the buyer to discuss sell-thru’s, product analysis, and seasonal and perpetual inventory needs.

Communication:

  • Inform the Retail Director promptly of all store, employee, or guest issues.
  • Weekly retail planning meetings with the Assistant Retail Director; bi-weekly retail buyer meetings; weekly planning store supervisor and buyer meetings; weekly planning retail advertising meetings; and monthly all-sales staff meetings.
  • Attends weekly huddles on assigned days and attends all Resort Leadership Team (RLT) meetings.

Floor Management:

  • Responsible for setting expectations of the highest customer service levels and professionalism to employees; coaches and corrects behaviors that do not meet this standard promptly.
  • Supports the supervisor in assigning duties to workers and scheduling break periods, work hours, and vacations per the established Business Plan; performs regular performance reviews with all staff; ensures employees’ compliance with established security, sales, and record-keeping procedures and practices.
  • Creates and plans all promotions and in-store events, including food and beverage, vendors, and advertising. Delegates to supervisor as needed.
  • Is responsible for maintaining the building’s appearance by managing maintenance issues, window cleaning, carpet cleaning, lighting, and all new fixtures needed in the buildings.
  • Listens to customer complaints, examines returned merchandise, and resolves problems to restore and promote good public relations.

Inventory & Merchandise:

  • Inspect merchandise to ensure it is correctly priced, laid out and displayed; approve merchandise transfers to other store locations as planned in coordination with transfer policy and store managers; coordinate merchandising plans with buyer and AD as needed.
  • Prepares and attends all physical inventories and manages outcomes.
  • With supervisor, manages all backstock areas and storage spaces, ensuring clean areas and organized inventory management.

Qualifications:

  • At least five years in retail management.
  • Must be able to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Ability to analyze consumer buying patterns and predict future trends.
  • Has working knowledge of Word, Excel, Office and RTP software.
  • Has good written and verbal skills.
  • Must be a self-starter, organized, positive, resourceful, have a proven focus on broad scope and opportunity, and can be firm but gracious at the same time.
