Sun River Health is Hiring a Dental Assistant/Trainer Near Beacon, NY

Sun River Health provides the highest quality of comprehensive primary, preventative and behavioral health services to all who see it, regardless of insurance status and ability to pay, especially for the underserved and vulnerable. Sun River Health is a Federally Qualified, Non-Profit Health Center serving communities in Suffolk, Rockland, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Columbia and Westchester County. Sun River Health is currently seeking a full-time bilingual Spanish Dental Assistant/Trainer to join our team in Beacon, NY.

Responsible for assisting Dentists/Hygienists as needed at sites where there is a short-term shortage of support staff due to vacation, sickness, personal time, etc. Responsible for all of the usual functions and responsibilities that are inherent with being a dental assistant. Assignment to site needing coverage will be on a first come/first serve basis. Performs job duties in compliance with systems and job specific standards. Trains dental assistants and patient representatives when not providing direct clinical contact at sites where there are shortages of clinical support staff.

  • Maintains supplies and instruments in dental operatory
  • Maintains dental laboratory, processes instruments, and monitors lab cases (check-in of lab cases, pouring impressions where indicated, storing cases, sending out lab cases, completing lab log sheets etc
  • Is responsible for pouring study models
  • Performs curing light monitoring on a monthly basis
  • Maintains water lines and follows DUWL protocol properly
  • Able to prepare and submit health specialty referrals and predeterminations
  • Assists dentists/hygienists with patient care. Asks other staff members if they need assistance when available and before leaving at the end of the day. Does tomorrow’s work today if there is a cancellation in the appointment schedule
  • Reassigns to other dental sites when coverage is needed to keep sites operational and to provide coverage, so sites do not need to close dental operations. Follows Dental Reassignment P&P
  • Provides oversight of dental staff and reports issues and concerns to Dentist and Director of Dental Operations
  • Effectively orients and trains new dental support staff onsite during their first week of employment, documenting their progress and assessing their competency in successfully executing their clinical and administrative skills, along with reassessing their competency when on site working with staff

Minimum Education Requirement: High School diploma/ GED and Vocational / Technical School / Diploma Program in Dental Assisting 
Minimum Work Related Experience : 2 years
Required Specialized Skills & Knowledge: Bilingual in both English and Spanish (orally and written)
