SUN Behavioral Kentucky is Hiring a PRN Staffing Coordinator Near Erlanger, KY

Position Summary:

Oversees the Nursing Department staffing in collaboration with the Chief Nursing Officer. Ensures the department is staffed safely and according to the needs of the milieu.

Position Responsibilities:

Clinical / Technical Skills (40% of performance review)

  • Is responsible to ensure the adequate number and mix of staff are scheduled to provide a safe, therapeutic environment.
  • Schedules and communicates the nursing schedule to the nursing department employees per established guidelines such as every 4-6 weeks. The process of communicating the schedule may include simply positing the schedule in pre-determined locations or sending via email to all nursing department employees.
  • Completes and posts daily nursing staffing sheets so oncoming nursing employees know which units to report to for their shift.
  • Monitors the schedules of the new employees and ensures their on unit orientation with a preceptor is scheduled and communicated to the new employee. Additionally, monitors and communicates with Nursing leadership once a new employee is ready to be schedule independently.
  • Oversees/assists employee with the HRIS system for missed punches and unit/departmental transfers.
  • Works collaboratively with the CNO and other nurse leaders the use of PTO for nursing department employees.
  • Monitors and report time and attendance of nursing employees to the CNO.
  • Works to develop a schedule and coverage that meets the established requirements minimizing the use of overtime or incentive pay.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Builds collaborative relationships with patients, families, staff, and physicians.
  • The ability to retrieve, communicate, and present data and information both verbally and in writing as required
  • Demonstrates listening skills and the ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken and written word.
  • Demonstrates adequate skills in all forms of communication.
  • Adheres to the Standards of Behavior

Integrity (15% of performance review)

  • Strives to always do the right thing for the patient, coworkers, and the hospital
  • Adheres to established standards, policies, procedures, protocols, and laws.
  • Applies the Mission and Values of SUN Behavioral Health to personal practice and commits to service excellence.
  • Supports and demonstrates fiscal responsibility through supply usage, ordering of supplies, and conservation of facility resources.
  • Completes required trainings within defined time periods, as established by job description, policies, or hospital leadership
  • Exemplifies professionalism through good attendance and positive attitude, at all times.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient and staff information, following HIPAA and other privacy laws.
  • Ensures proper documentation in all position activities, following federal and state guidelines.

Education

  • Required: High School Diploma. CPR and hospital-selected de-escalation technique certification.
  • Preferred: Associate degree
  • Maintains education and development appropriate for position

Experience

  • Required: Previous experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Preferred: A minimum of 1 (one) year experience in staffing a nursing department or similar role.
