Position Summary:

Responsible for the oversight of all clinical treatment programs of patients receiving treatment for psychiatric, and substance abuse issues in outpatient settings. The Director assures that high quality clinical care is provided and that the clinical functions are integrated. Director supervises individual and group counseling and develops and implements a variety of therapeutic treatment modalities/processes. Oversees discharge planning to ensure an optimal post outpatient transition. Responsible for ensuring that clinical documentation is current and accurate and meets all regulatory and other standards.

Position Requirements:

  • Required: Masters degree from an accredited school of Social Work. Current license in social work in the state of employment, as required by state regulations. CPR and hospital-selected de-escalation technique certification. A knowledge of psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment principles.
  • Preferred: Mental health professional license in the state of employment to conduct individual/group psychotherapy (e.g., LMSW, LPC, LMFT, LMCPH)
  • Maintains education and development as appropriate for position.
  • Required: Five (5) or more years of previous experience in all aspects of social service with an emphasis in the behavioral health setting, and a minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience. Previous experience in outpatient healthcare.
  • Preferred: Previous experience in a free-standing psychiatric setting facility.

Position Responsibilities:

Clinical / Technical Skills (40% of performance review)

  • Responsible for overall clinical development of all outpatient clinical programs and staff
  • Supervise, train and oversee staff development of all outpatient clinical staff (LCSWs, MSWs) and unlicensed employees while working in conjunction with the program management employees.
  • Supervise the utilization review process and OP UR Coordinator
  • Oversee and evaluate outpatient clinical case consultations being executed by clinical staff to ensure effective service delivery
  • Assisting in interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning and scheduling/assigning on an on-going workload assignments, adjusting programs and project priorities
  • Responsible for positive employee relations approach including performance evaluations, rewarding and addressing performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems with staff.
  • Utilize current data and thinking of clinical services to develop programs and clinical functions
  • Maintain and foster effective relations with partners including a variety of stakeholders including physicians, vendors, community programs
  • Program development and evaluation to ensure that programs are effective, efficient and consistent with the organizations mission, values and goals
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Maintains confidentiality of patient and staff information, following HIPAA and other privacy laws.
  • Ensures proper documentation in all position activities, following federal and state guidelines.
