Sales tax Analyst
El Paso, Texas, USA

Who you are:

SumUp is seeking a Sales tax analyst to join the SumUp team in the El Paso office. You will be part of the Global Finance Team, working directly with the America's Tax Manager to oversee and continually improve our tax framework in the USA and Canada. You will have the opportunity to handle processes in a fast-paced environment, you will enjoy a high degree of autonomy, encouraging innovative thinking beyond designated responsibilities.

What you'll do:

  • Coordinate on a monthly basis the multi-state sales tax return and GST for the USA and Canada through Avalara.
  • Be in charge of tax accounting to underline return details, general ledgers, and systems of original entry.
  • Manage communication with many Jurisdiction Tax Departments to assure proper login and clearance of tax obligations.
  • Coordinate, track, and respond to various tax notices and bills.
  • Assist the Tax Manager and Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support and advise on a variety of initiatives while ensuring compliance with regulations
  • Drive ongoing process improvements, focusing on automation.

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Law, Tax or related field
  • 2 years of tax experience which includes at least 2 years of sales/use tax experience
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills are required
  • Knowledge of Avalara tax software solution and SAP
  • Project management skills are required, with proactive process improvement experience.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Must be comfortable with virtual communications and working with geographically disparate groups
  • Passionate about the journey and excited about working inside a dynamic environment
