JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary:

The primary responsibility of the Housekeeper is to clean all assigned areas daily with attention to standards of quality, quantity, and safety.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Prior experience in cleaning field required.
  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision.
  • Ability to work with confidential information and maintain its’ integrity.
  • Strong customer service skills; maintain a hospitality approach when engaging all individuals.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Thoroughly clean rooms as assigned following established techniques and procedures within scheduled time constraints.
  • Report housekeeping and maintenance requests by completing appropriate form within appropriate time frame. Also reports all unsafe working conditions or equipment malfunctions immediately to supervisor.
  • Maintain equipment used to perform daily duties ensuring cleanliness and inventory of supplies. This includes cleaning carts, buckets, mops, dusting cloths, etc.
  • Ability to discern cleanliness of all areas.
  • Makes beds upon requests from Independent Living residents. Use clean linens and proper bed-making techniques. Complete appropriate paperwork for billing purposes.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Attend all in-services, training and meetings as required by company policies and Federal/State Regulations.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to safety by following safety rules and guidelines; follow good housekeeping practices, take proper care of equipment and perform job duties and responsibilities in a safe and responsible manner. Uses chemicals safely and appropriately and able to find Safety Data Sheets when needed.
  • Demonstrate dependability, reliability and punctuality. Report to work when schedule, ready to work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment:

This job operates in an environment with normal lighting levels, comfortable temperature ranges, good air quality, ventilation, and moderate noise levels from operating equipment. Special Events, Temperatures vary with the season and location.

Work Schedule:

Work assignments and schedules are based on resident needs and staffing requirements and may be changed as needed. Overtime may be required as needed.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee is required to stand, walk, stoop, mop, climb, for extended periods and reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 40 lbs or less and occasionally more than 45 lbs. The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written/oral instructions.

Work Hazards:

General hazards related to housekeeping duties. Hazards related to exposure to cleaning supplies. Minimal hazards if safety precautions are followed and personal protective equipment is used when needed. Potential exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious materials while emptying trash or cleaning. Use of personal protective equipment will minimize these hazards.
