Stormwater Compliance Inspector: Grand Junction, Colorado; Rifle, CO; or any of the surrounding areas.

About us

Summit is a 16 year old company providing environmental consulting services to our clients.

We need to recruit a special type of candidate. We enjoy and appreciate our team mates, but we all work very independently, with minimal supervision. We are on the road a lot (day travel only, you will be home each evening), outdoors in all kinds of weather, and sometimes in remote and challenging locations. If this sounds like a good fit for you, we'd love to learn more about your work experience and your strengths.

Our team members use company provided vehicles and travel from their homes directly to our client's projects with no need to report to an office. Because of this we highly value independence, excellent communication skills, and professionalism.

Employee Profile: Ideal candidates enjoy helping clients achieve their goals, and have a knack for communicating clearly and concisely. The employees who thrive here are strongly independent and work with minimal supervision. They also relate well to construction professionals and have demonstrated skills in building relationships. Above all, our best employees take pride in being experts who can guide clients through complex regulatory requirements.

Helpful skill sets or experiences:

· Environmental Compliance FIELD experience: Stormwater, Sampling, SPCC, Noise monitoring, soil analysis, vegetation monitoring and assessment, or related skills.

· Familiarity with Oil and Gas industry, Home building, Heavy Civil, or Commercial Construction

· Grading, earthwork, general construction experience

· Customer Service experience, problem solving mindset

· Thrive in independent/solo work environments

· Consultative or educational approach to client relationships

· Outdoors working conditions, remote locations, all weather conditions

Who we are: Summit Services Group is a highly focused environmental services firm that takes pride in working hands on with our clients to provide support and guidance related to Colorado Stormwater regulations, SPCC compliance, sound monitoring, vegetation monitoring and assessments, and water and soil sampling needs. We are hiring qualified Compliance Inspectors to serve Western Colorado.

What we do: Our inspectors serve clients in the construction and Oil and Gas industry by performing compliance inspections at active job sites, and providing insightful solutions to any compliance issues that may be identified. The job requires significant scheduling flexibility since some of the inspections are on a recurring schedule and others are triggered by client requests. Candidates should be prepared for an "all hands on deck" mindset as you work with the rest of the team to respond to time critical events.

Job responsibilities: Performing inspections, creating reports, updating site maps, coordinating responses with our clients and other contractors, and managing project records. Priority skills include an effective and positive communication style, attention to detail, mobile computing experience, and familiarity with common software packages. And, of course, we only have room for people of high integrity who can consistently deliver professional results in a timely manner.

Job outcomes: Clients who trust us, projects with effective mitigation methods and flawless documentation, and long term relationships with Colorado’s leading Oil and Gas Operators and construction companies.

Preferred certifications: Two or more years of experience in BMP installation, site inspection, soil sampling, water sampling, SPCC inspections, sound monitoring, or SWMP and SWPPP design is preferred. Additionally, many of our clients require an inspection certification, drug testing, and safety training. Preferred (but not required) certifications are CPESC, CESSWI, TECS and CISEC. If you do not have these certifications, but may be eligible to test for them, we may waive the certification requirement. A clean MVR is required and will be verified as a condition of employment. We are a drug free company and pre-employment testing is required for all positions within Summit.

Compensation: Full time hourly position with health insurance benefits (100% of employee premiums paid), optional vision and dental programs available. Hourly pay ranges between $20/hr and $25/hr depending on experience. Company vehicle is provided for work related activities.

Full Time or Contract: Summit primarily hires Full Time inspectors for our team, but we are open to contract positions if that better suits a candidate.
