Overview

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Negotiator will support the development and drive execution of assigned category sourcing strategies to leverage suppliers and associated spend, achieve year-over-year savings, effective processes for supplier relationship management and deliver value across the Summit’s businesses. In addition, this position will lead cost-reduction initiatives that involve suppliers.

REPORTS TO: Director / Senior Director and coordinates day to day direction from Category Manager

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the Category Managers/Directors in the development, analysis, and execution of sourcing strategies to support operating companies to reduce the Total Cost of Ownership
  • Position will be key contributor responsible for annual total cost reduction, process improvements, and improved commercial terms (ie. payment terms) that enable Summit's growth objectives
  • Utilize quantitative skills to analyze, validate, and manage large amounts of data, specific to problem solving, project and decision support, and trend analysis of multi-projects
  • Analyze Category spend, market conditions and trends, identify/define key category cost drivers to recommend modifications to the Category strategy
  • Support and assist the execution of the Summit Strategic Sourcing process: development of baseline, supplier evaluation, requests for proposal (RFx), negotiations, contract execution, development of implementation plan, savings metrics, and supplier management.
  • Partner with the internal customers to develop detailed requirement documents, award scenarios and contract documents (MSA, Statement of Work, Ordering Documents, etc.)
  • Work with supply base to ensure that all suppliers are continually vetted and reviewed, implementing new suppliers as needed on both a regional and national level.
  • Use strong teamwork and cross functional skills to implement effective decision-making techniques and processes regarding bidding and sourcing activities.
  • Monitor operational usage against centrally procured contracts; seek to understand acceptance issues and drive corrective actions as needed.
  • Monitor suppliers’ adherence to contractual terms throughout the relationship.
  • Liaise with stakeholders for resolving performance issues and continuous improvement processes
  • Support the development and management of critical supply chain, sourcing and purchasing tools and processes (SRM, Spend Management, Category Management, Sourcing Process, Risk Management, Procure to Pay, Contract Management, BI Dashboards) to support the overall sustainability of the value generated via the assigned category
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Understanding of purchasing systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Supply chain management, Finance or related field and 3-5 years of prior working experience in manufacturing and/or operations environments. Strong analytical, negotiation, contracting and strategic problem-solving skills. Strong attention to details. Organizational skills and the initiative to take charge of situations or projects. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Good interpersonal skills with cross functional groups. Must display good employability skills (attendance, job performance, attitude, willingness to work, etc.)

Computer Skills: Strong analytical experience with Microsoft Office products and ability to adapt to other computer software. Coupa and SAP a plus. Experience with e-sourcing tools a plus

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Travel is flexible but at times could be 10-30%
