Overview

The Area Equipment Manager will be responsible for several shops in the Phoenix area. They will be responsible for maintaining the maintenance of an assortment of heavy duty equipment including fleet service vehicles. They will also be responsible for hiring, training and maintaining a staff of mechanics.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe work environment by overseeing compliance with all safety policies and procedures including the demonstration and communication that safety is priority number
  • Effectively manage preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Work with Line of Business Managers and to plan, budget, and coordinate all repairs including winter repairs.
  • Work with General Equipment Manager to prepare monthly forecasts including R&M costs, Revenue, Shop Costs.
  • Work with Line of Business Managers to ensure peak equipment utilization.
  • Prepare annual budgets and Capex requests
  • Review and prepare evaluations of tire cost, major repair spend, and asset disposal recommendations
  • Ensure effective utilization of all Summit and Kilgore systems to direct reports, including TMT, Company Score Cards, 5S, and Safety Programs
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills & Experience

  • Excellent computer skills and proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, etc
  • Must pass a drug screen and criminal background check
  • Must hold and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Able to work independently with attention to detail
  • Able to follow direction and work effectively in a team environment
  • Knowledge of DOT, CDL and MSHA regulations
  • Able to respond to stressful situations and customers in a professional, courteous manner
  • Ability to effectively prioritize assignments to meet long-term and short-term deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Able to write reports, document findings, and procedures, and to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Able to work flexible hours including weekends, at various locations, as required
  • Able to have set-up knowledge and to show leadership qualities
  • Able to complete MSHA safety training as required
  • Over 5 years of industry experience
  • 2-4 Years of supervisory experience
  • Progressive Yellow Iron Management experience
