Summit Academy O I C is Hiring a Financial Services Manager Near Minneapolis, MN

Summary/Purpose

The Financial Services Manager is responsible for the daily operations of short-term training programs developed in partnership with outside employer partners. This position provides leadership, support, and guidance to instructional staff, and monitors and evaluates the ability of short-term training to help participants achieve education and employment goals. Additionally, the Financial Services Manager is charged with the task of curriculum design, development, and implementation, both on-campus and via a Learning Management System (LMS). Committed to fulfilling Summit Academy OIC’s goal, this position focuses on preparing students with the necessary skills and knowledge for careers that offer a living wage.


Essential Functions

Curriculum Development and Design:

  • Create, evaluate, and update the curriculum for Summit Academy’s Financial Services certificate program to ensure it aligns with industry standards and prepares students for certifications and careers in financial services.
  • Collaborate with industry experts and stakeholders to integrate real-world applications and technologies into the curriculum.
  • Employ a range of teaching methodologies to cater to different learning styles, ensuring all students achieve mastery of course competencies.
  • Incorporate lectures, hands-on demonstrations, real-life case studies, and field trips to provide a comprehensive learning experience.

Classroom and Program Management:

  • Maintain a productive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment that supports student learning and engagement.
  • Implement Summit Academy’s academic and attendance policies, ensuring a consistent and fair learning environment.
  • Oversee the scheduling of courses, management of classroom resources, and coordination of student activities to optimize the educational experience.
  • Develop and implement a variety of assessment methodologies to evaluate student progress and understanding.
  • Provide individualized feedback and support to students, addressing any academic challenges and guiding them towards success.
  • Advise students on academic progress, career planning, and professional development, fostering a supportive and motivational atmosphere.

Professional Development and Mentorship:

  • Pursue ongoing professional development in financial services education, instructional strategies, and industry trends to enhance teaching effectiveness.
  • Mentor and support other financial services instructors, sharing best practices in teaching, curriculum design, and student engagement.
  • Lead professional development workshops and training sessions for faculty, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in education.
  • Represent the Financial Services program at Summit Academy events, open houses, and community outreach activities to promote the program and recruit new students.
  • Build and maintain relationships with industry partners, advisory committees, and alumni to enhance program relevance and create opportunities for student internships and employment.
  • Coordinate with marketing and admissions departments to develop strategies for student recruitment and retention, ensuring the program meets enrollment and diversity goals.

Operational and Administrative Duties:

  • Manage the financial services program budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and expenditures stay within budgetary guidelines.
  • Order and manage instructional materials and equipment, ensuring they are up-to-date and accessible to students and faculty.
  • Collaborate with career services to develop and implement strategies for student job placement and career advancement, including resume workshops, interview preparation, and job fair coordination.
  • Ensure the Financial Services program meets accreditation standards and requirements, maintaining rigorous academic quality.
  • Lead the preparation for accreditation reviews and audits, coordinating with faculty and staff to ensure compliance with all regulatory and accrediting bodies.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of finance essentials
  • Ability to teach people of various abilities and diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Excellent communication skills: written, oral, interpersonal and presentation.
  • Strong decision making, problem solving, time management and stress management skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Minimum intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong knowledge of mortgage loan processing, insurance, and/or industry-related customer service practices


Supervisory Responsibility

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional school setting which requires instructors to maintain professional appearance and attitude. The work environment is fast paced and requires time management and prioritization of job duties.


Physical Demands

This job requires the employee to stand for significant periods of time while instructing. In order to perform the necessary duties, the instructor must be able to hear and speak. This job requires 75% time instructing and moving and 25% sitting and doing paperwork. Instructor should be able to lift and files.


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This position is full time and on campus. The hours are 8:00 to 5:00 Monday through Friday.


Travel

This position does not require travel.


Required Education & Experience

  • Associate’s degree in a business or finance related field.
  • 1-2 years relevant field experience
  • 2 years of Supervisory Experience


Preferred Education & Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a business or finance related field
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience teaching adults
  • 2 -3 years of Supervisory Experience
  • Online teaching experience preferred
