Summary :

Serves as the YMCA Health and Wellness Program Director. Oversees program departments of Wellness/Fitness and Sports (based on location) and special events as it relates to program development, and planning and implementing programs in accordance with the goals, policies and philosophy of the YMCA; Exhibits competency in Daxko (YMCA computer system - that includes registration for programs, program roster, membership etc.); Manage staff (fitness floor staff, group exercise instructors); Director on Duty responsibilities which involves supervising the facility after 5pm; Provides services to all youth and adults of our community through quality programs which use Christian principles to build a healthy spirit, mind and body.
Serves as a liaison and resource between Physical Therapy, Cardiac, and Pulmonary Rehabilitation as patients are discharged from formal therapy to an individual exercise program.
An Athletic Trainer in this role may secondarily assist Sports Medicine as follows:
Evaluates, assesses, treats and manages injuries, provides pre-event preparation, injury prevention, concussion management, neurocognitive baseline testing, etc. at your assigned School or University and/or YMCA in consultation with physician and/or according to set Summa Center for Sports Health Standard Operating Procedures; Provide budget and supply management in conjunction with the School/University’s administration; Provides rehabilitation and physical medicine, in accordance with The Ohio Athletic Training Practice Act and Sports Health’s Standard Operating Guide and Policy Procedures; Completes required medical documentation, billing, seasonal stats and other administrative paperwork per Summa Center for Sports Health’s Policy and Procedures; Is a liaison between the parents, athletes, coaches, school administration and medical team and is an advocate for them; Provides education for parents, coaches, athletes and community related to injury prevention, care for injuries, how to access proper medical care, etc.; Provides mentoring and professional development of students (high school and college) as it relates to athletic training and healthcare fields; Assists with pre-participation athlete screenings, baseline Concussion Testing, wrestling alpha testing, Community Outreach Programs and the advancement of the Sports Health Program; Attends monthly staff meetings and other mandatory meetings as scheduled.
An Exercise Physiologist in this role may secondarily assist Sports Medicine as follows:
Provides strength and conditioning programming specific to the goals and ability level for all athletes/patients/members. Performs fitness assessments, monitors for correct exercise positioning and proper use of equipment to reduce risk of injury. Responsible for maintaining strength and conditioning facility and establish policies, plans and procedures for the safety of all athletes/patients/members.
Formal Education Required :
a. Graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Sports Medicine, Sports Management or a related health field
b. If Candidate is an Athletic Trainer:
i. Current license issued by the Ohio OTPTAT Board to practice Athletic Training in the State of Ohio
ii. Certified by the Board of Certification, Inc. for athletic trainers.
iii. Maintains AT license in good standing.
c. If Candidate is an Exercise Physiologist, Scientist, or related field:
i. Current certification from a nationally accredited strength and conditioning program (ACSM, NSCA, NASM, NCSF, or ACE preferred certifications)
d. CPR through the American Heart Association for the Healthcare Provider (BLS)

Experience & Training Required :

a. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with physicians, patients, parents, school administrators, other hospital staff, YMCA patrons, staff, administration and external public.
b. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
c. Ability to make effective presentations in front of groups.
d. Experience in fitness testing and program design.

i. Demonstrates flexibility/adaptability in meeting environmental constraints and demands placed on our service.
j. Ability to utilize equipment such as a stethoscope and sphygmomanometer.
k. Must be available to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends to meet the needs of the program.
l. Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
m. Other duties as assigned.
4. Level of Physical Demands:
a. Very Heavy: Exerts in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force continuously to move objects.
b. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate specialized equipment and fabricate pads, splints, preventative taping/bracing, etc.
c. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
d. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
e. Requires exposure to communicable disease, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other potentially hazardous conditions common to a clinical environment.
f. Ability to stand for long periods of time, walk around on carpeted cement floor, climb stairs frequently throughout the shift and demonstrate proper exercise techniques.
g. Must be able to continuously stand and walk; frequently squat, climb stairs, bend to the floor, reach over the shoulder, kneel, twist, sit, stand and remain in uncomfortable positions for prolonged periods of time.

$22.99/hr - $34.49/hr

The salary range on this job posting/advertising is base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials. Many factors, such as years of relevant experience and geographical location are considered when determining the starting rate of pay. We believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members when determining offers. Please keep in mind that the range that is listed is the full base salary range. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical.
