Description
Under the direction of the Senior Director of Total Rewards, the Payroll & Benefits Administrator provides support to the areas of payroll and associate benefits administration. The Administrator will serve as the back-up to payroll biweekly processing. Answers payroll and benefits questions for current and former associates, completes benefits reconciliations, FMLA, completes verification of employment requests and assists with payroll reporting and special reporting as needed. Provides support to the hiring and onboarding teams as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Payroll Administration
Performs a wide variety of payroll processing activities into HRIS to include:
  • Set-up and maintenance of associate payroll records (new hire, monitoring pay wages, AGC, cell stipends, referrals, etc.)
  • Process retroactive payments
  • Process ACH returns
  • Process Off-cycle manual check payments
  • Calculating and recording payroll deductions
  • Processing inactive work status terminations
  • Complete full-time termination letters (backup to director)
  • Performs payroll audits
  • Processes and audits pending time off requests
  • Set up direct deposit
  • Assist with year -end reporting, garnishments, escheat, grant reporting, time clock administration
  • Complete verification of employment requests
  • Packaging and disbursement of live paychecks to centers.
  • Serves as payroll back-up (independently process at least once per quarter)
Benefits Administration
  • Assists with new hire enrollments, open enrollments and administration of the following plans: medical, dental, vision, retirement, Paid Time Off, STD, LTD, life insurance, supplemental plans.
  • Maintains associate wellness program, processes third party vendor check requests and prepares related journal entries. Assists with open enrollment events
  • Assists with benefit statement reconciliations.
  • Serves as FMLA administrator.
Other HR Administration
  • Answers payroll and benefits questions for current and former associates in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Preparation of letters, responds to subpoenas, scanning of census surveys, general scanning and filing, manages associate recognition system
  • Serves as an association administrator for YMCA Link
  • Assist with fingerprinting as needed
Supports HR team by assisting with new hire sessions during busy hiring periods and/or as needed.
Requirements
Education/ Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, human resources or related field preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience in Human Resources with payroll and benefits experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of state and federal payroll laws and regulations preferred.
  • One to two years of experience working within an HRIS/HRMS preferred.
  • High level of professionalism, service focused, with the ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality.
  • Deadline driven, very organized, attentive to detail, with excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and adapt to changing contexts and priorities.
  • Ability to understand, adapt to and interact with diverse people, teams, perspectives and cultures.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office; particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong commitment to service.
Certifications/Trainings Required:
  • Must obtain within 30 days of employment and then maintain current certifications in CPR, First Aid, AED and Oxygen Administration.
  • Maintain other required certifications as stated in the training matrix.

  • Ability to lift and move a minimum of 30 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
  • Ability to work in a variety of environments, specifically those subject to extreme humidity/dampness, heat and cold.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
This position may require availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
