Requirements / Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
•Holds a valid and current Multiple Subject Preliminary with Supplementary Authorization in Music; English Language Learner Authorization or CLAD certificate required, or Single Subject Preliminary or Clear Credential in Music or comparable subject
•Bachelor's Degree, including all courses needed to meet credential requirements
•Two semesters of student teaching or two years of full-time elementary classroom experience
•Meets District standards for physical and mental health
•Good to superior recommendations from student teaching supervisors or other professionals who have observed the personal characteristics, scholastic attainment, and classroom performance of the teacher

INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC QUALIFICATIONS
•Ability to demonstrate basic knowledge and technical ability on the following instruments: violin, cello, flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, and percussion.
•Ability to demonstrate basic music keyboard skills.
•Ability to tune string instruments (violin, viola, cello, bass).
•Performance level proficiency on one or more instruments.
•Knowledge and ability to do minor instrument repairs.
GENERAL MUSIC QUALIFICATIONS
•Ability to demonstrate basic knowledge of musical terminology, recorder, and vocal technique.
•Ability to demonstrate basic music keyboard skills.
•Knowledge and ability to arrange and transpose music, as needed, to improve instruction and student success.
•Orr and Kodaly experience, preferred.
•Vocal performance proficiency.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
•Depth of training in one or more areas of the elementary school curriculum
•Knowledge of current trends and research concerning the growth and development of
elementary age children
•Previous classroom teaching experience at more than one grade level and in several different school settings.
•A broad experience in a variety of professional assignments requiring the application of
specialized skills and talents
