The Sullivan County Facilities and Operations Department is seeking to fill a temporary, part-time Grounds Worker position to assist with grounds care on the Unity campus. The Unity campus is home to Sullivan County Health Care and the Sullivan County Department of Corrections. Job responsibilities include

• Mow and trim grass and lawn areas
• Weed and mulch landscape beds
• Contribute to the overall success of the County by performing all other related duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions including sun, heat, and rain
• Knowledge and ability to safely operate gas-powered landscaping equipment such as walk-behind mowers and weed trimmers
• Positive attitude

Job Requirements:

• At least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis.
• Full range of physical motion in order to operate manual and/or gasoline-powered groundskeeping equipment.
• Offender workers from the Department Corrections are also used to maintain landscaping on the campus. This position may interact with Corrections workers and be expected to maintain compliance with all Department of Corrections policies and procedures.

Commitment:

• Work begins in mid-June and continues at least through the end of August
• Up to 24 hours per week, flexible schedule
• Shifts days and times may be flexible depending on weather, but in general scheduled work hours would occur Monday through Friday, 7am to 3pm.
• An occasional Saturday may be required to work on special projects or to complete work after extended periods of inclement weather.

Pay Range: $17.00 - $179.00 dependent on experience

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 24 per week
