•Must have one year experience in a caregiving role, similar capacity or strong interest and desire to be trained for this role

•Demonstrated written and oral communication skills with a strong compassion for empathy and ability to care for the senior population

•The hours are 7p-7a or 7a-7p

•High school Diploma or equivalent required

•Reliability and punctuality is of extreme importance in this role.

Summary:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with or provide basic care needs: dressing, grooming, incontinent care, hair care, oral care, nail care, skin care, bathing (including tub baths, showers, and whirlpool baths), answering call lights and delivering messages, care of residents’ property.
• Assist with ambulation: getting in and out of bed, transfer techniques, walking with/without assistive devices, and use wheelchairs.
• Assist coworkers with transporting residents in wheelchairs or reclining chairs to and from the dining areas, activities, or beauty salon.
• Identify the needs of the resident, intervene or make proper referral.
• Report all changes in the resident’s condition to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse as soon as practical.
• Assist in maintaining an attractive, comfortable, and clean environment for the residents.
• Answer pagers in a timely manner and assist with or provide environmental needs: making beds, changing linens as necessary, tidy dressers, closets, and other furniture, clean and maintain orderly utility rooms, collect soiled linen/laundry, wash, fold and deliver to resident, and reporting any items in need of repair.
• Assist with or provide basic toileting care including ambulation to bathroom.
• Collect, fill and distribute water pitchers to resident rooms.
• Provide resident care through obtaining temperatures, pulses, respirations, blood pressures, weights, collecting specimens of urine, feces, vomits, sputum, and procedures.
• Record information pertinent to resident care,
• Carrying out postmortem care, and isolation techniques and procedures.
• Follow established policies concerning exposure to blood/body fluids.
• Prepare dining room for all meals and serve residents.
• Assist with activities.
• Cleaning duties as assigned.
• Responsible to the unit charge nurse for providing services within limits defined by delegated tasks.
• Responsible for adhering to instructions issued by the nurse and following established facility routine.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
