Description

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Harvesting Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all harvesting operations for a company or organization. This includes planning and scheduling harvests, coordinating with harvesting crews, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and managing harvest costs. The Harvesting Operations Manager also plays a key role in ensuring that the company meets its production goals and objectives.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES: Lead, mentor, and develop direct reports to achieve goals. Assign tasks, resolve conflicts, and ensure compliance with policies. Manage resources, communicate effectively, and prepare performance reports. Conduct succession planning and foster a positive work culture.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and schedule harvests in accordance with production goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate with harvesting crews and ensure that they have the necessary equipment and resources.
  • Monitor harvest progress and ensure that it is completed on time and within budget.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
  • Manage harvest costs and develop strategies for reducing costs.
  • Track harvest data and metrics to identify areas for improvement.
  • Report to the Director of Operations on harvesting operations.
  • Performs other related projects and assignments as business dictates.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills and have the ability to summarize complicated material.
  • Capable of exercising good judgment and making decisions in highly complex areas.
  • Possess strong management skills, ability to multi-task, and be able to direct and evaluate the performance of others.
  • Ability to work autonomously, meet deadlines and perform in a high-speed environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with very good attention to detail.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office software applications skillsMS Word, Excel.
  • Experience with data reporting and visualization software.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, communicate effectively and build consensus across teams and various levels of management.
  • Bilingual and Biliterate English and Spanish, preferred.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in agricultural science, forestry, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in harvesting operations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.
  • Must be able to life and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
