Title: Natural Gas Contracted Project Coordinator (Full-time)

Reports to: Regional Field Supervisor

Location: Union, NJ and/or Hackettstown, NJ (Client sites)

Brief Description: Natural Gas Contracted Project Coordinators support and provide field observation in Client’s natural gas distribution areas around Union, New Jersey and/or Hackettstown, New Jersey.

The Natural Gas Contracted Project Coordinator will implement Natural Gas Company’s construction program, coordinate natural gas pipeline infrastructure projects, observe contractors’ work for quality and safety. The Natural Gas Contracted Project Coordinator will perform as directed by and under the supervision of Client Supervisors, Senior Coordinators and Regional Field Supervisor.

In general, conduct observations of natural gas construction and field work in progress, on-site to assist Client in determining if the project is proceeding in accordance with the design and permit requirements, the Client’s Operations Procedures Manual (OPM), perform post audit site visit to confirm as-built conditions, and completion of construction quality assurance reports. Must effectively communicate with Client Representatives, fellow Natural Gas Contracted Project Coordinators, Regional Field Supervisor, and Project Engineer regularly. Must be knowledgeable of natural gas installation methods and state and local regulations. Must have the ability to organize assigned work and develop effective work methods.

Examples of work/duties:

  • Coordinates installation of gas mains and services for new business, individual/conversion, Bare Steel/Cast Iron Replacement (BSCI), DOT/county road projects.
  • Oversees and monitors project from initiation through installation; provides periodic progress reports to Construction Operations, and Service Center Management; updates Engineering, Marketing, and Mapping Services departments on relevant field information.
  • Records project and contractor employee Operator Qualification compliance.
  • Reviews construction records for accuracy and completion.
  • Required to complete construction sketches from time to time.
  • Maintains construction records in assigned Service Center(s); provides field records to contractors.
  • Serves developers, builders, homeowners, and Service Center personnel as initial contact for new business construction concerns and complaints.
  • Performs audits to monitor site safety, contractor work quality, and compliance to Company Construction Manual; witnesses and certifies contractor’s pressure tests.
  • Provide effective communication when items are unsatisfactory, faulty, defective, or in non-conformance with OPM. Evaluates field construction conflicts through regular coordination with technical staff.
  • Good communication skills necessary for interacting with and providing representation as required with public, clients and/or contractors.
  • Must be able and willing to work the hours necessary to meet the demands of dynamic project schedules and the timely completion of assigned project(s).
  • Knowledge of and strict adherence to all site safety requirements.

Requirements (education, licensing, certifications, etc.):

  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • High School Diploma required, but Degree in related field is preferred.
  • OSHA 10 and/or OSHA 30 or ability to obtain.
  • Ability to pass Client required background and drug screening.
  • Ability to pass Operator Qualification (OQ) testing requirements within seven (7) business days.

Skills/Experience Required:

  • Natural Gas Industry and/or underground utility construction experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to be on feet for an 8-hour work day.
  • Effective Communication Skills.
  • Ability to operate laptop computer.
