Substitute Teacher Service, (STS) is proud to announce the implementation of the STS/IU-13 Guest Teacher Program. This program allows those who have a 4 year degree to take an online training program that would prepare them for teaching in the classroom as a day to day substitute teacher.This program is the first of its kind in Pennsylvania and is exclusive to STS. The program will enhance the abilities of guest teachers to assure the education and well-being of the children is our top priority. Working with STS, you may be eligible for unemployment compensation during the summer months. We also offer direct deposit and an online system for managing your job schedule and accepting work assignments. Position SummaryA substitute teacher is an individual who, in the absence of the classroom teacher, is responsible for providing instruction and managing the learning environment. The substitute teacher reports to the principal or designee at the location to which they are assigned. Job DutiesDay to day job duties of a substitute teacher are determined by the classroom teacher or his/her designee, as they may vary depending upon the changing needs of the classroom(s), student(s), and/or school district. Substitute teachers of any capacity are subject to daily reassignment, depending on the needs of the day. The substitute teacher must comply with the duties outlined by the classroom teacher, principal or designee.
